Group Benefit Plans in Canada

Employee group insurance

In a survey of Canadian small businesses, 33 percent do not see how a benefit plan helps their business. This can be a very sad statistic for employee as well as employer. Simply because group health plans and group benefit plans do indeed help a business.

60 percent of Canadian employers worry about the quality of the health plan for their employers, and yet that does not always mean that they follow through. In most of Canada, health care costs are paid through funding from income taxes. This means that when it comes to small business health benefits, they should not be a problem.

Also in Canada, there are no deductibles on basic health care and co pays are extremely low or non existent. This should mean that more businesses should care about the benefits, and about their employees. Since they are low cost, they really are of no hindrance to a business. In fact, most employees who feel safe at a job are the ones who have health plans.

For historical reasons, the CHAs definition of insured services is largely restricted to care delivered in hospitals or by physicians. While this may be the case, having insured services in any business is indeed possible. It may be because of this fact that some small businesses see no reason to have health or benefit plans, however this should change.

As more and more people come to realize just how important company group health and benefit coverage is, hopefully the amount of companies who care about the situation will also increase. Group benefit plans will become more popular as more businesses see just how they can increase loyalty and productivity. When the employee feels safe and like the business cares, they will care in turn about the business they work for. Read more articles like this.
