Food borne illness are very serious and they can have very serious implications. If you are in the restaurant industry, you will want to make sure that employees’ are properly trained. This includes food safety certification through a food and hygiene course, such as the as9100 or the Brc certification. However, it is important to note that there are many different governing bodies and standards for food and safety. HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) training and certification, for example, ensures that food handlers are using the safest and most effective practices. ISO, the International Standards Organization, also has a variety of standards and Iso training programs governing a wide variety of organizations. ISO 14000, for example, is a family of environmental management standards that helps organizations minimize how their operations affect the environment and comply with applicable regulations. Other ISO certifications, however, such as the ISO 9000 certification pertain to food safety. Overall, there are numerous options for food safety training, from the as9100 or the CMMI certification.
